Description
Cherie Henningsen is a wife and girl mom. She works with families in crisis and advocates for strengthening partnerships with community individuals and organizations.
Cherie holds a master’s degree in Human Services: Marriage and Family counseling. She also taught psychology and sociology for over 10 years. Currently Cherie is getting her second master’s in social work while also providing care coordination to families in 5 Iowa counties. She does this by helping clients cope with crisis or trauma that may be occurring in their everyday lives and referring to appropriate resources.
Cherie has experience in marriage and family, trauma, crisis, life coaching, and military lifestyle and stress. She is passionate about volunteering and service work. She loves to travel and advocate for the military community. She is happy to serve her community by being a tutor for the Survivor Moms’ Companion program. This program offers psychoeducation that helps women navigate childhood maltreatment and trauma that resurfaces during the perinatal period and early childhood, by supporting them during their healing journey.
Cherie works as a Care Coordinator at Unity Point so she can assist in referring to additional resources. All appointments are currently done in-patient at the Robert Young Center.
