Teleshia Parker

Teleshia Parker is a compassionate Birth and Postpartum Doula, Community Base Doula Trainer, CPS-T, CLC-in-training, Survivor Mom Tutor, and dedicated family advocate serving families throughout Kalamazoo, Michigan. With a strong commitment to trauma-informed care, she works closely with mothers and families to provide emotional support, education, advocacy, and culturally responsive care during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. Teleshia is passionate about empowering families by helping them navigate healthcare systems, access community resources, and make informed decisions that support healthy and positive birth experiences. She also facilitates Baby Café programs in Kalamazoo, creating supportive spaces for breastfeeding education, encouragement, and peer connection for new and expecting mothers.

As the Birth Justice Manager at Rootead Enrichment Center, Teleshia leads efforts focused on advancing birth equity and improving maternal health outcomes for Black and underserved communities. Her work centers on creating safe, supportive environments where families feel seen, heard, and respected. In addition to serving families directly, Teleshia is deeply committed to training and mentoring community-based doulas, helping build a stronger network of culturally responsive birth workers within her community. She provides guidance on advocacy, trauma-informed support, postpartum care, professional development, and navigating Medicaid reimbursement systems so doulas can sustainably serve families in need. Teleshia also helped open the first milk hub in the area to provide families with access to donor breast milk, ensuring infants have access to vital nutritional support when needed. Through mentorship, education, and community advocacy, she continues to uplift parents, strengthen future birth workers, and create lasting systems of care for families across her community.
