I want all women to feel confident in their body’s and baby’s capability to gestate, labor, birth, recover, breastfeed, grow, and thrive! Somewhere along the line this unyielding confidence has been lost in our society. It is time to reclaim it! I want all women to be able to pass down the “I did, you can, and this is how” wisdom of reproduction, milk making, and motherhood to each other, and then to the next generations. Honestly, I’d like to work myself out of a job because women feel knowledgeable and confident to support other women through this process, and then they do!
The Survivor Mom Companion (SMC) program prepares mothers to do just this! As a SMC tutor, Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Lactation Consultant, I help mothers build confidence in their own skills and in giving advice to other mothers. The program uses story telling, skill learning/building, and creative thinking to not only support yourself in motherhood but to become a wise woman in your family and community. It is directly aligned with my mission as a birthworker.
In addition to my Birthworker skills and almost 10 years of experience, I have a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan, where I studied Global Maternal and Infant Health Education. I am uniquely qualified to offer comprehensive, culturally sensitive education and support during the transformation of parenthood.
I am looking forward to a year full of guiding and supporting women in their own empowerment journeys!
